The San Mateo County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has appointed Robert Taylor as its new executive director.

Taylor brings with him extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, business development, sales management, business administration, project/operations management, and strategic partnerships. He has also demonstrated a strong commitment to mental health programs and raising awareness about mental health issues in the community, the San Mateo County chapter of (NAMI) said in a news release.

In his new role, Taylor will oversee the organization’s overall development and strategic planning. His responsibilities will include increasing awareness of mental health challenges within the community, driving business development, managing financials, fostering board and community relations, and identifying fundraising opportunities. Taylor will lead a team focused on expanding mental health services, membership enrollment, and increasing programming based on community needs.

“I’m very excited to join NAMI San Mateo County. NAMI is a wonderful organization that provides support, education, and advocacy for people and their families. I’m honored to be part of the NAMI San Mateo team,” said Taylor.

Newly elected Board President Chris Rasmussen praised Taylor as an “excellent fit for NAMI San Mateo.”

“He brings a depth of knowledge and talent to challenge and support our staff, generate new funding sources, and guide us to a new and exciting future,” Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen also expressed gratitude to the organization’s dedicated staff, volunteers, affiliates, donors, partners, Interim Executive Director Leslie Davis and board members John Butler, Bridget Mannix, and Kate Phillips.

The Board of Directors recently appointed Chris Rasmussen as president and added two new Board Members, Kim Gariépy as Treasurer and John Paye as a Board Member. Leslie Davis will return to her permanent role as Operations and Grants Director. With these appointments, the board is confident in its renewed momentum and focus on the organization’s mission.
