Volunteer Opportunities

NAMI SMC began from a group of parents who had to take matters into their own hands to get the help and treatment for their children. Throughout its history, volunteers have been at the core of NAMI SMC and its mission – this continues to be true today.  NAMI SMC is thriving today due to the countless hours of volunteers, past and present.

Explore the various ways you can contribute your time and skills to make a meaningful impact:

  1. Volunteer Coordinator: Join us in overseeing and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel empowered and equipped to fulfill their roles. Responsibilities include devising strategies for volunteer acknowledgment, organizing recognition events, and maintaining the volunteer roster. This role can be shared among a team.

  2. Fund Development: Assist us in our fundraising efforts and activities while we recruit for a Development Manager. Specific job descriptions will be available by the end of January.

  3. HelpLine: Utilize your empathetic listening skills to answer calls and guide individuals to relevant resources, including our educational classes and support groups. Volunteer remotely using our call forwarding system.

  4. Program Facilitator: Play a crucial role in leading support groups and various programs that directly aid individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. It’s a rewarding position that provides hands-on support.

  5. Presentation Speaker: Join us in delivering mental health presentations aimed at educating teens, adults, and families. We seek speakers who can effectively lead these presentations to raise awareness and combat stigma surrounding mental health.
