November Speaker Series & Annual General Meeting
Estate Planning for Families with Mental Health Challenges with Ellen Cookman

Join us for our November Speaker Series and Annual General Meeting on November 19th hybrid. The Speaker Series event will feature Ellen Cookman from Cookman Law who will dive into special needs planning options for families with loved ones with mental health conditions.

This Speaker Series event will also feature our Annual General Meeting. All members are encouraged to attend!

At this talk, Ellen Cookman will cover:

  • Does your loved one need a special needs trust if they don’t receive needs-based public benefits?

  • How can you build flexibility into your plan if your loved one is able to work and support themselves in the future?

  • How can you find a successor trustee for your loved one’s trust if they’ve isolated themselves from most family members?

  • What types of stipulations can you include in the loved one’s trust to promote productive and beneficial behaviors?

  • Can your loved one qualify for an ABLE account if they became disabled after age 26?

  • Q&A session at the end to enable conversations around this important topic

Join us in person or online to connect with fellow community members in a warm and welcoming space. In-person guests can enjoy light snacks, everyone is welcome, and we can’t wait to see you there!

*Speaker Series are free and open to the public*
