Have you heard of California Clubhouse? There are 300 of them worldwide including one here on the Peninsula in San Mateo County.
Clubhouse is a free membership-based social/vocational community where people living with persistent mental illness come together every weekday, 9am-5pm, to give added meaning to their lives. Participation is open to everyone. Clubhouse is not a care facility or a place to receive therapy. It is a place to build upon strengths and abilities and a place to socialize, work and be a part of a community of peers.
Our March program will include presentations by the Founder, Julianna Fuerbringer; and the Director, Erica Horn; plus a member of the Clubhouse Community, who will tell us what a profound difference the program has made in her/his own life. www.californiaclubhouse.org
Also, in attendance will be the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) San Mateo County. NAMI SMC is an affiliate of the largest grass roots mental health organization in the county.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education and advocacy!
