DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.
NAMI SMC, as it is known today, is the result of the efforts of a few
courageous San Mateo County parent leaders, families, friends and
professionals who, in 1974 — 45 years ago — began working together to
change the way the community viewed mental illness. Today, the National
Alliance on Mental Illness, with its 900+ affiliates, is the most formidable
grassroots mental health advocacy organization in the country
Your support goes directly toward:
Education & Support
We provide education and support programs for families & individuals
to help ensure that no one goes through mental illness alone.
Advocacy
We advocate at the local, state, & national level for increased
access to better mental health services & treatment.
Awareness
We work to increase public awareness around mental illness
and reduce stigma.
NAMI envisions a future where all people affected by mental illness
can experience resiliency, recovery and wellness. Your commitment and
generosity help make this vision a reality. Please visit us online at
www.namisnamateo.org/45Anniversary.
NAMI SMC is a Lifeline.
“Never believe that a few caring people
can’t change the world. For, indeed,
that’s all who ever have.”
– MARGARET MEAD
